Resistance bands are versatile, lightweight, and convenient!
How do they work?
They work by conditioning the muscles and joints in our body. When we pull or push against the rubber bands we are exerting positive and negative forces to help stretch and tone major muscle groups. They are a great alternative to lifting weights as you can start as slow as you like and really focus on working the joints and muscles. The bands help us to make leaps and strides in improving both flexibility and range of motion.
From the THERABAND Website:
"THERABAND: It is far more than eight colors; it is an exacting color-coded system of resistance levels that are pull-force tested and validated at THERABAND manufacturing facilities to ensure band integrity.
Premium, High-resistance Latex Band Loops
Durable band loops measuring 41 inches (1 m) long x 0.25 inch (.6 cm) thick are built to last and ensure consistency of pull force even after repeated stretching
Resistance Levels Range from 15-50 lbs (6.8–22.7 kg)
Pull forces stretching up to 100%-200% elongation strengthen muscles to transform therapy and advance patient recovery
Bands include a visual resistance indicator showing lbs/kg resistance oval turning to circle at 100% stretch. This helps improve user technique and track progression."
THERABAND resistance bands are available in eight different resistance levels, each are color coded and range from Extra Thin to Max.
With the dispenser packs, you can cut each band to the correct length for an individual patient’s needs, and the non-latex option is a great alternative for patients with latex sensitivities. The bands are easy to store and transport for on-the-go care.
You can buy them at our online store or Calmedi NE & Calmedi NW stores in Calgary.
